Shams 1 is the biggest solar power plant in MENA, presenting the UAE as a pioneer in renewable energy.

After over a decade, Masdar has expanded into at least 40 nations and has become a major player in the renewable energy sector worldwide.

A Journey From Abu Dhabi’s Desert To the Rest Of The Globe

Abu Dhabi has entered a new age of prosperity with several ambitious and innovative construction initiatives. Masdar City exemplifies how a densely populated metropolitan area may be designed with passive and intelligent features. Buildings in the city use 40% less water and electricity resources than typical Abu Dhabi buildings. Innovative sustainable research and development initiatives have also been carried out, including eco-towns and power-storage systems. In addition, several renewable energy initiatives, including wind farms in Texas, waste-to-energy facilities in Australia, and solar power installations in Afghanistan, have had their starts with Masdar’s support.

Masdar’s Efforts To Create A Sustainable Future

Masdar has invested $20 billion in renewable energy initiatives with an electricity production of more than 15GW, offsetting the emission of 7.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. In addition to Mubadala, two other Abu Dhabi energy giants, Adnoc and Taqa, are now shareholders in Masdar, giving it a significant boost toward reaching more than 100GW of total worldwide capacity by the year 2030. Masdar city serves as a crossroads for various industries and sectors, including finance, trade, and education. It also operates as a testing ground for Greentech companies in and outside the UAE.
