Sustainability Transportation and Mobility in the Middle East :

In the Middle East, sustainability is a serious issue. There are several causes for this. The two that are likely most significant are the air pollution and city congestion brought on by the area’s growing population and increased use of private vehicles. Green transportation is any mode of transportation with low environmental hazards. Green transport options include private (such as a quick e-bike) and public transportation (like an electric city bus).

Sustainability is the one thing that all environmentally friendly transportation has in common. Sustainable transportation is propelled by resources that may be utilized indefinitely and do not deplete when consumed. While it is crucial, moving toward sustainable transportation still presents considerable difficulties.

Fortunately, Middle Eastern governments and companies are looking to embrace sustainability for a greener future. For example, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy unveiled the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030. This program promotes the usage of electric and hybrid vehicles in Dubai in an effort to lessen their carbon impact.

Also, Saudi Arabia has a NEOM project. This project focuses on high-speed transport and demand-shared mobility. Qatar wants to use eco-friendly vehicles for public transit by 2030 and has an electric vehicle policy.

Types of Sustainable Transportation Means

1. Electric bikes

Bicycles with electric motors are called electric bikes (e-bikes). Long-lasting e-bike batteries enable riders to reach speeds of 15 to 25 mph. However, some electric bikes have a faster top speed. The most environmentally friendly electric bicycle among the several variants is the pedal-assist e-bike. Pedal assistance requires the rider to pedal before the engine turns on. However, other variants utilize the motor continually. Many factors make electric bikes efficient green transportation options. For instance, e-bikes use less energy and use fewer resources to produce than full-sized cars.

2. All-electric vehicles

All-electric cars have one or more electric motors. Since they don’t use fossil fuel and their exhaust doesn’t have the same detrimental effects on the environment as combustion engine pollution, all-electric cars are more environmentally friendly than combustion engines. It is crucial to remember that other automakers are adopting the usage of electric engines, in addition to well-known ones like Tesla. Public buses, light rail commuter trains, and intercity trains are also starting to adopt electric engines.

3. Hybrid vehicles

Hybrid vehicles combine a combustion engine and an electric motor. While combustion engines perform better at sustaining high speeds, electric motors are superior at producing power. Each power source will perform what it does best, according to the theory behind hybrid automobiles. A hybrid car emits fewer greenhouse gases than an all-electric vehicle. This makes it more environmentally friendly even if it is less “green” than an all-electric vehicle. Hybrid vehicles emit between 26 and 90 percent fewer emissions than regular automobiles, depending on how they are operated.

Conclusion

People who use less energy will become less reliant on supplieGrs of fossil fuels in a culture that promotes green transportation. It will reduce air pollution and improve population health in the long run.
